NFI Diesel Technician Expectations & Requirements:

  • Follow DOT & OSHA safety procedures consistently 
  • Perform proper preventive maintenance
  • Diagnose and repair of tractor and trailer-related defects & repairs
  • Examine, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and mechanical problems using standard testing procedures and computer diagnostic equipment
  • Perform emergency road calls
  • Perform DOT inspection per FMSCA guidelines
  • Assist in parts inventory management
  • Must be able to communicate with internal customers and have good customer service, oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to lift and/or pull 75 lbs or more without restriction, stand or lie for extended periods to repair equipment, and have flexible movement: to reach equipment and/or parts and maneuver equipment
  • Must be able to work outside in inclement weather conditions and an environment with excessive noise and respiratory hazards without restriction


NFI Diesel Technician Qualifications:

  • Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
  • Own necessary essential tools
  • Technical or advanced degree or equivalent maintenance experience
  • Preferred ability to obtain a Class B license
  • Preferred ASE Certification in 4 areas, including PM and brakes
  • Preferred exposure to Windows-based computer systems
  • Diagnostic and troubleshooting competency relating to equipment repairs & maintenance
  • Successfully demonstrated problem-solving skills
  • Examples of teamwork and customer service skills, including good oral and written communication skills.
  • On-site evaluation with recommended training
